Expo: JULY 16 & 17, 2021

Friday, July 16: 3pm – 7pm
Saturday, July 17: 9am – 5pm

Kick off the weekend by picking up your race packet at our Expo in the Gaslamp. For more final instructions regarding Expo, please visit:  How to get to the Expo or How to pick up your race packet.

Enter at 5th & K St, adjacent to Hilton Gaslamp, 401 K St, San Diego, CA 92101

Race Day: Sunday, JULY 18, 2021

5:30am

  • Self-serve Gear Check drop-off opens at MLK Park, adjacent to Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, 401 K St., San Diego, CA 92101
  • Solutions Tent and Race Day Packet Pick-Up opens at the southeast corner of 5th & L St.

6:55am

  • San Diego 5K Start on Harbor Drive at 5th Ave, accessible via the Harbor Drive pedestrian bridge, located at Trevor Hoffman Way adjacent to Petco Park’s Home Plate Gate. (Updated on 7/14: due to construction in the area, access via 5th Ave is no longer viable.)
    • Be advised that your start time may be as early as 6:55am or as late as 7:10am. Your chip time doesn’t begin until you cross the timing mat.
    • Board your assigned WAVE during the BOARDING TIME listed on the front of your bib.
    • Be aware that, during boarding, wave signs will be continually moving forward along Harbor Drive once the race starts.
    • If you would like to opt for a wave with a 6’ distance between runners, please use the back Wave D.
    • The 5K has a time limit of 1 hr (20 min/mi pace)

7:00am

  • 10K and Relay Leg 2 Participants: Shuttles begin departing from Imperial Ave (just across Park Blvd from Petco Park), to the relay transition/10K Start. Please board the shuttle according to the BOARDING TIME listed on your race bib. The last shuttle departs at 7:30am.

7:30am

  • Half Marathon Start, on Harbor Drive at 5th Ave, accessible via the Harbor Drive pedestrian bridge, located at Trevor Hoffman Way adjacent to Petco Park’s Home Plate Gate. (Updated on 7/14: due to construction in the area, access via 5th Ave is no longer viable.)
    • Be advised that your Wave’s start time may be as early as 7:30am or as late as 8:10am.  Your chip time doesn’t begin until you cross the timing mat.
    • Board your assigned WAVE during the BOARDING TIME listed on the front of your bib.
    • Be aware that, during boarding, wave signs will be continually moving forward along Harbor Drive once the race starts.
    • If you would like to opt for a wave with a 6’ distance between runners, please use the back Wave 10.
    • The half marathon has time limit of 3.5 hrs (16 min/mi pace).

†If you plan to use our self-serve gear check, allow yourself extra time for drop-off at MLK Park beforehand.

7:15am – 12:00pm 

  • Finished?  Congratulations! Be sure to stay and celebrate with Special Offers for Finishers in the Gaslamp*. Spectators and finishers alike can also watch the finish line from bleachers under the giant video board at 5th & K St.
  • 8:30am: San Diego 5K winners will be notified via text message and video/ribbon boards, so be sure to visit us at the Awards Tent if you think you might be winner!
  • 10:30am: Half Marathon/10K and Relay winners will be notified via text message and video/ribbon boards, so be sure to visit us at at the Awards Tent if you think you might be winner!

Take note of the following Rules of the Road:

  • Start near the back of your wave if you plan to run slower than you expected or if you are alternating between running and walking.  If running with a partner or group, please allow space for other runners to pass and do block the route.
  • If you would like to change waves to join another participant, please ensure that you are moving to a higher wave number (slower pace) and not a to a lower one and use the Boarding Time listed on their bib.
  • When slowing or stopping at a water station, pick up your cup or energy gel as far forward as possible to allow plenty of room for others behind you.
  • Upon finishing, if you would like to wait for another participant, please proceed through the finish area and plan to meet at MLK Park or at your favorite Gaslamp restaurant on 5th Avenue.
